Length measuring method for fiber reinforced electric wire

Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a length measuring method for a fiber reinforced electric wire by which the length of the wire not magnetizable can be measured, and further, its measuring is not affected by the shape of the surface thereof. CONSTITUTION: As feeding a fiber reinforced wire 1 in one direction of the wire, paint is sprayed on the surface of the fiber reinforced wire 1 at a certain point 2 so as to form a marking. At other point 3 apart from the point 2 by a predetermined distance, light is radiated on the surface periphery of the fiber reinforced wire 1, and the reflected light from the surface periphery is received. When a receiving signal reaches a predetermined value expressing the marking, the next marking is formed. By repeating this procedure, the length thereof is measured based on the number of repeating and the predetermined distance.
